WYC Events for APRIL 2019

The April Monthly Board of Directors meeting with be held at the Westport Town Hall on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 7pm. As always, the public is encouraged to attend and share thoughts and ideas!

 

THE SKI/RIDE PROGRAM has completed another GREAT SEASON. More than 40 Westport Youth enjoyed the ski/ride program and special thanks goes to the following selfless volunteers who invested in the youth of our community:

Ashley Duke, WYC Board Member for leading the 2019 Program; Mark Evans for being a GREAT Bus Driver, WCS for providing the buss for all Sunday trips, Andy Weken for riding the bus, Eve Bailey, Gretel Schueller, Doug and Emily Furman, Mary Hollaron, Jeremy Clifford, Stites McDaniels, Jim McNaughton, Mark and Erin Hall, Tom Kohler, and Lisa and Tom (Ashley Duke’s in-laws) who volunteered their time to ski with the kids. Thank you all so much for your support!

Dance and Movement: Another great session that will culminate at the April 5th Talent Show at WCS. The FINAL day of Dance/Movement will be on Monday, April 1st for the season. Please come to the talent show to support our young dancers who will be showcasing their hard work at the beginning of the talent show. Special thanks to Caroline Thompson for another great season of instruction!!

 

BIDDY BASEBALL: Sign up sheets are in Mrs. Hoff’s office at WCS. The (k-2) Coaches will be Garrett McQueen and Jenni Cross; (3-4) Ashley Duke and Dana Marshall. THANK YOU COACH VOLUNTEERS!!! The schedule will be out in early April after the Essex County Youth Bureau Meeting on April 1st. 

Biddy Basketball: AFTER ANOTHER GREAT SEASON, the “Friends of WYC” will be providing a FREE Ice Cream Party on Thursday, April 4th starting at 4pm at the Westport Hotel. This is to celebrate another excellent season. All Players, Coaches, Parents/Guardians, and families are welcome to celebrate! Hope to see you there!!!

THANK YOU!!!! To Meredith King and Heather Reynolds for their exemplary work and contribution to the Westport Youth Commission over the past 8 years. Both have dedicated their volunteer time to invest in the best ideas and interest of our youth and our community. They both added incredible value to our commission and will be greatly missed. Thank you so much ladies for your selfless commitment to bringing out the best in our youth! Hat’s off!!!

SUMMER PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Anyone interested in applying for the Summer Program Director for the 2019 Summer Program, please complete an applications that you can pick up at the Town Hall or print from the Westport Town Website. With the completed application, please include a cover letter and resume and address it to Ed Mason, WYC Director, 22 Champlain Ave. Westport, New York 12993. The Program runs for 6 weeks beginning Monday, July 8, 2019 and finishes on Friday, August 16, 2019.  If you have any questions, please contact Ed Mason on 518.225.9772. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR A COLLEGE STUDENT on break to gain experience and make some good money. Our salary is more than competitive!!
